GoldenEye – Pierce Brosnan

Aston Martin DB5
In 1995 Pierce Brosnan made his debut as 007 in GoldenEye. In a thrilling opening sequence Bond, reunited with the Aston Martin DB5, races against a Ferrari 355 GTS driven by ‘Xenia’, the villains henchwoman, down the mountain roads near Nice and Monte Carlo.

The World of James Bond 007 is full of action, excitement, drama and danger. The high octane, all action car and vehicle chases are at the heart of the Bond franchise.
There is unique story behind every vehicle and every death defying stunt culminates in the exhilarating screen image. From speed boats leaping roads and cars submerging to exotic locations, ranging from tropical islands to the North Pole the action never ceases. Vehicles with gadgets and armouries add to the thrills with Bond having to be ever more resourceful in his battles with the increasingly technical and sophisticated villains.
BOND in MOTION is the story of the vehicles that keep the man behind the wheel moving and how the thrill a minute chase sequences pushed man and machine to the limit.

This new exhibition to Beaulieu is the world’s largest official collection of original James Bond vehicles, on display for 2012 only, featuring 50 vehicles from the Bond films.
With fifty vehicles on display, BOND IN MOTION is the largest official collection of original Bond vehicles the world has ever seen. On display until the 6th January 2013 at the National Motor Museum, this could be your only chance to see these vehicles on display together.
2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film series and the 40th anniversary of the National Motor Museum (and the 60th anniversary of Beaulieu opening its doors to the public) and what better way to celebrate than with the biggest exhibition of James Bond vehicles ever staged?
Cars used in films starring Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig all feature in the exhibition.

Although its screen time is limited, this classy car allows Jinx to make an impressive entrance at Grave’s ice palace. This 2002 retro-style Thunderbird was made exclusively for Die Another Day and also features gleaming 21-inch spoke wheels and sleek white seats.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – George Lazenby

Mercury Cougar XR7
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, was to be George Lazenby’s only outing as Bond, the future Mrs Bond can be seen driving her Ford Cougar in a number of scenes, including the main car chase. Showing off her driving skills along treacherous, icy mountain roads she ends up in the middle of a stock car race. Trying to shake off the villain she causes a large amount of damage to the Cougar in the process.
The winter arena in which the Cougar takes part in the stock car race was created by flooding a flat field with water and then freezing it.

Culver City / L. A. , Playa Vista area. Some of the old helicopter / air plane hangers and buildings have been turned into film studios.. These two ’68 Skylarks just sitting in the back lot. Maybe one is going to be the stunt double and get smashed. I sure hope not.

When we landed in Bologna airport, we were surprised to see that the marshaller’s "follow-me car" which guides arriving flights into their gates was a top-of-the-range Lambourgini which costs about £240,000 more than the kind of vehicle you’d expect most airports to use. The Germans sitting behind us got quite irate about this.

It obviously turned out to be a stunt: 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the Bologna-based luxury car maker, and it was all part of the celebrations. Automobili Lambourgini was born out of a pact between the communist regional government and a tractor magnate who was irritated by the failings of his powerful Ferraris when he drove them on the road. As long as Ferruccio Lamborghini used unionised workers, the city agreed not to tax his profits. Given that the company only ever made huge losses, it was a win-win for the red city!

The XDL Sportbike Freestyle Championship started as a test event in 2005. At the time we combined drifting with stunt riding to see what kind of entertainment we could create. The experiment didn’t work out so well, but we realized there was a lot of potential with the sport bikes by themselves, if we created a series. We started the XDL series in 2006 with 3 events. We went to four in 2007, and in 2008 XDL became a 6 event points series. It is a championship just like AMA Superbike now. Our big distinction is that XDL caters to the new audience of urban sport bike riders. It is the fastest growing part of the motorcycle market and one that looks like it’ll keep expanding for at least 10 years. Our competitions generally take place inside cities, as compared to traditional road racing, which takes place on a race track in the sticks. As an example, we run an event with Moto GP at Indy where we block off a street downtown. And the XDL Finals are in Long Beach, right in front of the Queen Mary. So XDL is making a new sport very easily accessible to fans.
